New Holland, PA, is the perfect place to explore some of Lancaster County’s best parks and green spaces. We recommend starting with these four summer activities in this idyllic part of Pennsylvania.

1. Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve

You can enjoy one of the few remaining forests in Lancaster County at this 940-acre preserve, which allows hunting as well as easy-to-moderate hiking. Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve even has a fully ADA-accessible trail, so it’s a great place for beginners and people who have limited mobility. As you stroll the preserve, you may see wildflowers, blueberry bushes, azaleas, and other plants and animals that make up this diverse ecosystem.

Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve is located about 6 miles east of New Holland in East Earl, at 836 Gault Road. It’s open to visitors from dawn to dusk each day.

2. Welsh Mountain Community Center

Not far from the Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve, you can enjoy the amenities at the local community center and park. It has a facility you can reserve for parties of up to 150 guests, as well as a picnic pavilion that seats 80. You’ll also find a playground, a basketball court, an open field for games like frisbee, a short nature trail, a horseshoe pit, and picnic tables. Welsh Mountain Community Center is located at 564 Sandmine Road in New Holland.

3. Money Rocks County Park

At this county park, you can explore more than 300 acres of Lancaster County’s Welsh Mountains. The name Money Rocks refers to the park’s boulders, where local farmers once supposedly hid their fortunes. This park is also part of the county’s second-largest forest, where you can see Pennsylvania’s state bird, the ruffed grouse, among mountain laurel and black birch trees. It’s a popular place for both hiking and bird-watching, with several miles of trails to traverse.

Money Rocks County Park is about 7 miles from New Holland at 936 Narvon Road in Narvon. It’s open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

4. Historic Poole Forge

Step back in time and relax along the Conestoga Creek at this iconic local historic site. Poole Forge spans 26 acres of fields and wildflower meadows, with a historic mansion to tour, a ball field, a nature trail, a covered bridge, many gardens, and even a playground for kids. You can get to Historic Poole Forge in about a 7-mile drive. It’s located at 1940 Main Street in Narvon, and it’s open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

The Buick Encore has the space you need to bring your friends or family and enjoy these seasonal activities, so grab your picnic blanket and get going. Check it out in person today at Turner Buick GMC.
